A Conversation with Sarah Kubehl

Q

How would you describe your design philosophy after nearly 30 years in the industry?

A

My philosophy has always centered on creating spaces that are as functional as they are beautiful. After nearly three decades, I've learned that the best rooms aren't ones that follow a trend: they're ones that feel genuinely right for the people living in them. I combine timeless aesthetics with modern sensibility, always working to make sure the finished home feels fresh and inviting without sacrificing practicality.

Q

What draws you to residential design specifically?

A

There is something deeply meaningful about designing the spaces where people actually live. A well-designed home has a real impact on how you move through your day, how you feel when you walk in the door, and how you gather with the people you love. Residential work lets me collaborate closely with clients to understand their lives, their routines, and their vision, then bring all of that to life in a way that feels uniquely theirs.

Q

How has living and working in Dallas shaped your approach to design?

A

Dallas has a vibrant art and architecture scene that I find genuinely inspiring. The city has incredible energy, and its natural beauty adds another layer of richness to that creative environment. Being part of this community has pushed me to stay curious and keep evolving, which I think shows up in the work. Good design requires that kind of ongoing engagement with the world around you.
