A Conversation with Neighbor Interiors

Q

How would you describe your design philosophy in your own words?

A

We call it Laid-Back Luxury. Our philosophy is built on the belief that a home should be refined enough for high-end entertaining and durable enough for real life with kids and pets. More than just the aesthetic, we believe true luxury is a seamless process. We ensure that the experience of building and furnishing your home is just as beautiful as the final result.

Q

What kinds of clients do you work best with, and who might not be the best fit for your process?

A

We thrive with high-performing professionals, families, and even athletes who need their home to be a sanctuary, not another project to manage. Our ideal clients value privacy, absolute operational excellence, and a result that feels like a vacation at your own personal resort. If you aren't looking for a highly managed, systems-driven framework to navigate the design, construction, and furnishing process, we probably aren't the right team for you.

Q

Where do you think homeowners get the most long-term value from thoughtful design decisions?

A

Whether we're navigating a full-scale build or a full-home furnishing project, the real value is in the unseen details. It's so much more than just a beautiful aesthetic. It's having an expert help you make informed decisions about materials and layouts that withstand the reality of kids and pets while maintaining that personal resort feel. Thoughtful design ensures your home functions perfectly for the way you actually live, rather than just looking good for a photo shoot.

Q

When budget and wish lists don't align, how do you help clients prioritize?

A

When budgets and wish lists don't align, we lean into education and prioritization. We don't just arbitrarily cross things off. We empower our clients with knowledge about materials, level of craftsmanship, and functionality so we can strategically prioritize the spaces and anchor pieces that impact their daily lives the most. We often find that once clients truly understand the long-term value, they feel confident increasing their investment to serve their home for the long haul.

Q

What does your process look like from first conversation to final install, and how do you help prevent overwhelm?

A

To prevent overwhelm, our entire process is built around expert guidance. From our first conversation to the final furniture install, our design team makes the cares and concerns of our clients our own. We don't hand you endless options to pick from. We are highly selective in our design choices, bringing our valuable knowledge on materials, scale, and functionality. This allows our clients to approve their design book with confidence. Once the vision is set, we continue to handle the logistics. Whether it's construction administration with your builder or procurement for furniture, we are highly communicative and high-touch to ensure every detail is managed.

Q

How do you design for how people actually live in their homes day to day?

A

Designing for daily life is the exact reason we created our Laid-Back Luxury philosophy. We don't design showrooms. We design signature homes meant to be truly lived in. Our process always starts by asking practical questions: Where do the kids drop their backpacks? How do you actually host on a Friday night? What do you want this room to feel like when you walk in? Once we understand the mechanics of your routine, we incorporate that reality into your design. The goal is always to deliver that elevated, personal resort aesthetic, but with the technical functionality to effortlessly handle the beautiful chaos of real life.

Q

If you were advising a friend choosing a designer, what would you tell them to look for beyond style?

A

There are lots of talented designers to choose from, but more than just style, a great designer is going to have a very real behind-the-scenes process for how they execute a vision. When you're making a significant financial investment like this, you want to know you have a team you completely trust to steward that investment. Meet with them to understand how they handle budgets, communication, construction administration, and procurement. The right team is going to ensure that the experience of creating your home feels just as valuable as the final result.
