Ashka Karia

Interior Designer

Warm. Curated. Timeless with a modern edge.

Ashka Karia designs homes that are unapologetically yours. Her work at Karia Design Studio begins with a simple conviction: a home should reflect how you live, what you love, and the story of your life. From daily routines to favorite travel memories, from family heirlooms to cultural touchstones, every detail is intentional.

Her style is warm, curated, and timeless with a modern edge. Spaces that feel collected over time rather than installed all at once. The kind of rooms where every detail has a purpose and the whole feels effortlessly livable.

Why Karia Design Studio is on our list

Ashka brings a rare combination of clarity and warmth to the design process. She guides clients from concept through completion with a hands-on approach, making a process that can feel overwhelming feel manageable and even enjoyable. Her work is not about a signature look; it is about drawing out who her clients are and making a home that is deeply theirs.

She works best with clients who care deeply about the result, trust the process, and understand that creating a beautiful, thoughtful home takes time, patience, and the right team. If that sounds like you, we would love to make an introduction.

A Conversation with Karia Design Studio

Q

How would you describe your design philosophy?

A

At Karia Design Studio, we believe your home should be unapologetically you. It should reflect how you live, what you love, and the story of your life. From your daily routines to your favorite travel memories, your family, and your culture, every detail should feel personal and intentional.

Our work is about creating spaces that feel both elevated and truly livable. We bring a sense of clarity and structure to what can often feel like an overwhelming process, guiding our clients from concept through completion with a thoughtful, hands-on approach.

Our style could be described as warm, curated, and timeless with a modern edge. Spaces that feel collected over time, not overly designed, where every detail has a purpose.

Q

What does an ideal working relationship look like for you?

A

An ideal working relationship is one where the client truly values the power of a great team. When the builder, architect, and designer are aligned, the result is something really special.

The projects that feel the most successful are the ones where there is trust. Our clients are open to being pushed slightly outside of their comfort zone, and they trust us to guide the vision. They care deeply about creating a beautiful, thoughtful home and understand that it takes time, patience, and expertise to get there.

That shared mindset is what makes the entire process feel seamless and, ultimately, what leads to the best results.

Q

How do you design for the way a family actually lives?

A

Livability is at the core of everything we do. Every project starts with an in-depth questionnaire so we can really understand how our clients live day to day. Do they host often, love to puzzle, or want a space where the whole family can pile onto the sofa for movie nights?

We think through how each space will actually function, especially in areas like the kitchen, where layout and storage need to work for that specific family. The goal is always to create a home that not only looks beautiful, but feels effortless to live in.

Q

Walk us through how you typically start a project.

A

During our first home or site visit, we are really focused on understanding how the space is currently working and where it is falling short for the family. We look at how they move through the home, what feels natural, and what feels frustrating or underutilized.

We also take time to learn what already matters to them. Are there furniture pieces, heirlooms, or meaningful items they love and want to carry forward into the design? Those pieces often help anchor the direction in a really personal way.

It is a mix of observing, listening, and asking the right questions so we can start to shape a home that feels both functional and deeply reflective of who they are.

Q

Tell us about a project that has stayed with you.

A

One project that really stuck with me was a full home renovation for a young family who had just moved into an older home with so much character, but the layout did not support how they actually lived. They loved to host and spend time together, but the spaces felt disconnected and underutilized.

The very first thing they shared with me was how important it was to host their family for Thanksgiving. That really stayed with me throughout the entire design process and helped guide so many of our decisions.

What made the project especially meaningful was the level of trust they gave us. They were open to rethinking the layout entirely and allowed us to push the design in ways they would not have initially considered. We were able to create a home that felt cohesive, functional, and still true to the original charm of the house.

The day after Thanksgiving, I woke up to an email with a photo of their entire family gathered around the table in their new home. It was one of those full circle moments that made me feel so lucky that this is what I get to do.
